How the

Fellowship works

The Global Youth Council is designed as a high-impact Fellowship that combines virtual engagement with an immersive in-person global experience.

Throughout the year, Fellows connect with globaly renowned speakers, engage in structured peer dialogue, participate in applied learning experiences and build relationships with ambitious young people from around the world.

Designed around
Academic Life:

The Fellowship is intentionally structured to complement – not compete with – school life and academic responsibilities.
  • Live global sessions take place one Saturday per month at 12:00 GMT, with additional time zone-specific activities and peer engagements scheduled throughout the year.
  • The virtual Fellowship involves approximately 50 hours of engagement across the year.
  • Fellows also participate in a 3-day in-person Global Summit held in mid-July.
  • Lower-intensity periods are aligned with major academic exam cycles.
This structure allows students to engage meaningfully with the Fellowship while maintaining balance with school commitments.

Case-based
applied learning

Global Youth Council is built around the belief that meaningful learning happens through engagement with real-world complexity.

Rather than focusing only on theory, Fellows explore global issues through debates, simulations, case discussions and collaborative problem-solving exercises. Across the Fellowship, participants are challenged to analyse different perspectives, defend ideas, navigate uncertainty and apply their thinking in practical contexts.

Learning is active, discussion-driven and grounded in the kinds of challenges leaders face in the real world.

The Fellowship journey

What Fellows gain

University & Career Positioning

The Fellowship helps students better articulate who they are, what they care about and the kind of future they want to build. Through mentorship, capstone project and international exposure, Fellows leave better prepared for university applications, future opportunities and long-term leadership pathways.

Mentorship

Each Fellow is paired with a mentor aligned to their interests and future aspirations - whether in academia, entrepreneurship, public leadership, technology, social impact or other fields. Mentorship conversations help Fellows explore future pathways with greater clarity and confidence.

Capstone Project

The Capstone Project is a personal journey of reflection, growth, and future planning. Throughout the Fellowship, Fellows document their experiences, capture key insights, explore their strengths and aspirations, and define the impact they want to create in the world. By the end of the Fellowship, each Fellow will have developed a personal portfolio that tells their story, celebrates their growth, and maps out the next steps on their leadership journey.

Global Youth Council Certification

Upon completion of the Fellowship, Fellows receive official recognition from the Global Youth Council acknowledging their participation, leadership development and contribution throughout the Fellowship.

Leadership Experience

Through debates, collaborative projects, civic engagement and real-world simulations, Fellows strengthen the skills needed to lead in complex environments — including communication, critical thinking, collaboration, initiative and adaptability.

A Global Community

Fellows become part of an international community of ambitious young people, mentors and global leaders spanning different countries, cultures and disciplines. The relationships built throughout the Fellowship are designed to continue far beyond the Fellowship itself.
